Le principe est simple : passer un week end entre personnes désireuses de s’aventurer en terrain peu connu, et progresser en échangeant connaissances et compétences.

Celui de début octobre sera consacré au processus de boot d’OpenBSD et à l’architecture ARM, et plus particulièrement le sheevaplug. L’objectif est d’arriver à faire démarrer un noyau ramdisk, et d’interagir avec le système via la console série.

At the beginning of April, a small but determined group of hackers found a big
unused space in the heart of Lille, a french city located at the crossroads of
Brussels, Paris, London and Amsterdam, and the 4th biggest urban agglomeration
in France. Following the Grace Hopper Pattern, they have formed a collective
called Les Hauts Lieux, requisitioned the place and have opened a hackerspace
called le Localhost, putting the place back to use after nearly 3 years of
disuse. Many other projects have joined the effort, like a coworking space or a
collective restaurant based on organic food and fair-trade.

On June 2nd, the police and the landlords found out the space was occupied. On
June 5th, a handful of members from the collective and the Droit Au Logement
Association (association helping and defending people without decent housing)
met the heads of Zara France (which is renting the space), to discuss the
future course of the actions. So far, Zara executives promised to involve les
Hauts Lieux onto the projects for the 3 000 sq. meters, if the space was
emptied by June 10th, 12:00pm.

Les Hauts Lieux is clearly at a disadvantage here, facing a huge corporate road
roller, having nothing but a promise to hang onto, and now without a place to
gather, work and share. We need every bit of support we can get, to show to
Zara France that we are not just a handful of hippies glued to their computers,
to show officials that people all around the world trust our goals, abilities
and determination. Publish this call on your weblogs, relay it on other mailing
lists, tweet it, so that the Zara heads can see the true dimension of what they
are dealing with.

What are Les Contorsions Technologiques ? It’s a mix of workshops, exhibitions,
demonstrations and performance, in a setting favorable to discovery,
experimentation and exchange. It’s an invitation to grab the tools and take the
initiative back, to shatter norms and reshape our universe. It’s the
celebration of all the creative, funny or spectacular uses of technology, and
knowledge sharing.

Les Contorsions Technologiques revolve around three big ideas:
- exhibiting tangible technology applications, as they are easier to feel;
- guiding people on their meeting with technology;
- inspire people into following our footsteps and play with technology.

We decided to not have lectures, and to ignore computer-only subjects. But do
not worry, there is still a wealth of topics. If you are unsure about this,

Send your submissions at cfp@contorsions-technologiques.org before March 21,
23:59 GMT. Acceptance notifications will be sent around March 26 and the
schedule will be published around April 5.

Your submissions shall be a Plain Text, PDF, OpenDocument or RTF file, and
shall contain the following informations:
- type
- summary (1000 characters max)
- lang (fr/en)
- logistics need (tables, chairs, power, light, sound)
- contact information (at least an e-mail address)
- if applicable, a link to pictures or videos

Here are the submission types we accept:
- workshop: one or two people help to realize a small project (30 to 90 min of
work, no big hardware. Soldering iron is OK, drill press is not)
- exhibition: present your realizations and do interactive demonstrations
- demo/performance: be the star during 10 to 30 minutes. e.g.: tesla coil,
quadrocopter flight
- concert: between 30mn and 2h

Don’t forget: everything is possible, as long as you drop us some lines to talk
about it.

Les Contorsions Technologiques are organised without budget by volunteers on
their free time. Therefore, we cannot help with travels or accomodation
expenses, but we might be able to organise makeshift accomodation for

La Suite Logique invite les bidouilleurs du monde entier à participer à la
première édition des Contorsions technologiques qui se déroulera du 30 avril au
2 mai à la Suite, lieu culturel alternatif situé au coeur de Paris, France.

Les Contorsions Technologiques, c’est un mélange d’ateliers, d’expositions, de
démonstrations et de performances, dans une atmosphère propice à la découverte,
l’expérimentation et l’échange. C’est une invitation à prendre les outils et
reprendre l’initiative, à briser les normes et remodeler notre univers.  C’est
la célébration de toutes les utilisations créatives, amusantes et
spectaculaires de la technologie, et du partage de la connaissance.

Voici les trois axes qui gouvernent les Contorsions Technologiques :
- matérialiser la technologie pour mieux la faire ressentir ;
- guider le public dans sa rencontre avec la technologie ;

Nous avons volontairement décidé de ne pas faire de conférences, et d’ignorer

23h59 GMT. Les notifications d’acceptation seront envoyées vers le 26 mars et
le programme final sera publié autour du 5 avril.

The goal of this workshop is to build and burn the usbpicprog PIC burner, using nothing but resources available at the /tmp/lab (excepted the electronic components, of course). As you can see, this burner uses a PIC, meaning we need a PIC burner to build the device. Depending on the available resources, we’ll use a pre existing PIC burner or we’ll build a JDM burner to burn the first PIC, then we’ll burn the remaining PICs with this freshly burnt PIC, effectively bootstrapping the process.

Why not buying a burner instead ?

• because you can Do It Yourself
• because you can reprogram the burner
• because a workshop involves people meeting, and people meeting involves BEER !!

Prerequisites

• Basic soldering skills
• Soldering iron (not mandatory, but you don’t want to wait for other to finish soldering, do you ?)

• We need you to register before Nov 22th to order electronic parts.
• Workshop currently scheduled for Saturday 28th at 14:00, at /tmp/lab.
  

Jeudi 19/11 à partir de 21H au /tmp/lab, OLPC France (« spin-off » du /tmp/lab :-) propose un atelier de réparation du XO.

Au menu : 4 ou 5 machines à expertiser et réparer.

Nous présenterons également en exclusivité (machine de pré-production) : le XO 1.5, la future évolution de l’ordinateur XO.

Tout le monde est le bienvenue !

N’oubliez pas que les XO sont résistants aux liquides, alors n’ayez pas peur de ramener à boire.

N’oubliez pas que Berlin est un haut lieu de la teuf de ouf guedin malade, et que les hotels se remplissent très vite. Donc courrez vite vous inscrire !
