/tmp/hacker

From Tmplab

Welcome to /tmp/hacker, the hacker in residence program of the /tmp/lab.

Hacker In Residence

For a suitable period of time, you, the hacker, come to /tmp/lab and live there, hacking on your stuff, cross-breeding your hacks with the locals, making everyone and everything a bit better that it and you were before. The idea is to connect with /tmp/labbers, make them discover what makes you tick, while they make you enjoy the place and feedforth your work.

The /tmp/lab has been known for its friendly approach regarding visitors. Beyond the usual "Come by and enjoy" trademark of /tmp/lab, the /tmp/hacker residence wants to foster long term parternship between brilliant individuals and the /tmp/labbers. We are an eclectic bunch of people and by staying around, you'll get acquainted to a lot of very different but still compatible approaches to hack, fun, life and the universe.

How does it work?

You get there. Depending on your lifestyle, you can get accommodation from 0€ (squatting the lab) to anything you're ready to burn (such as living at a hotel or renting an appartment). Anyway, we'll make sure you enjoy your stay and make it easy for you to get around.

Once there, you hack on your stuff. Wow! But it's nothing like a lonesome retreat. Instead, we force you to hack on your stuff and make it better. How that? You have to present your progress, share your passion, organize workshops or day blasts where other smart people can criticize, question and push you in the trenches, so that everyone gets a hit from your smash. You will have plenty of time to do what you came for, but beware that we want you to succeed, and you won't leave without making it >:)

So, what's the deal?

There's a long time motto in the Virtual Communities, thanks to Howard Rheingold that says: What it is ---> is ---> up to us. Well, we're there: as with other rules at /tmp/lab, this program starts with no rules, and we'll adapt it to make it the most enjoyable for all parties.

One thing we want is that /tmp/hackers enjoy their stay, nurture our processes, their processes and that we all become grateful for it. Be excellent to each other, as Bill & Ted would say, and party on, dudes!. So, the deal is: let's start a conversation. It might turn into a residence. Residence could turn into a release, friendship, or the project that will change the world. Who knows? Let's do it now!

OK, you lunatics! I want to be in!

Well, there's no application form nor contest to get there. First, we need to meet. If that fits, you'll know when you're in.
